From 2002-2004 Ian attended Golden Gate Law School in San Francisco. During that time Ian worked for a small civil rights law firm, Baker & Mckenzie’ International Employment Law group in their Silicon Valley office, and Ian clerked for Hon. Justice Sepulveda in the California Appellate Court. Ian transitioned to the finance industry in 2005 joining LPL Financial (LPLA) in San Diego, CA. At LPL Ian held roles including compliance audit, risk management, and M&A advisory consulting providing transactional advisory and organic growth consulting to our top 50 clients. In 2015 Ian moved to Cetera Financial Group, a privately held broker-dealer and investment advisory firm as a Senior Consultant leading a team of specialist consultants to perform growth consulting and M&A advisory engagements for all of the firms’ broker-dealer and investment advisory subsidiaries. In early 2019 Ian managed the reorganization of a long-standing investment advisory firm in the mid-west and became President/Co-Founder of the reorganized entity, Affinity Financial Advisors, a registered investment advisory firm (RIA) with over 450M assets under management. Within twelve months we recruited several investment management firms thereby doubling the firm size to over 900M in assets under management. In late 2019 Ian founded registered investment advisory firm IKT Holdings, Inc. that provides investment management and advisory services to businesses and individuals as well as mergers and acquisitions and business growth consulting services. In 2024 Ian joined Meritage Partners, a boutique transactional firm in Newport Beach, CA focused on the lower middle-market providing mergers and acquisitions as well as investment banking services including capital raising for early-stage companies.
Ian is a former NCAA champion and co-captain of the University of California Men’s Gymnastics team. Ian continues to give back to my alma mater and support local athletic organizations through philanthropy and donating time. My passions include: my family; neuro-prosthetics; promoting the adoption of sustainability as a measure of GDP for underwriting qualifications in international lending; surfing; and rock climbing.
